Dr. Lee Yong-Tae was born in 1933, graduated from Seoul National University in physics, and gained a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Utah. He served as a professor at the Ewha Womans University and later went on to develop computers at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and the Korea Institute of Electronics Technology.
In 1980, he founded the company Trigem Computer (TG) and produced Korea's first personal computer. Then in 1982, he became the first president of DACOM(Data Communication Corporation of Korea) and launched the country's first data communications services. As president of DACOM, he also carried out the eGovernment project to computerize the whole government administration, making Korea the world-best country in this field in 1988, |

a position that it still retains to this day (UN E-government Survey 2014, p. 18). In 1996 Dr. Lee founded Thrunet Corporations and installed Korea's first high-speed internet network, laying the foundations for Korea to build the world's best high-speed internet service. |

In addition, Dr. Lee has served as the head of several non-profit and social organizations, for example, chairman of the board of trustees of the Sookmyung Foundation (for the Sookmyung Women's University and Girls' High School), chairman of the Korea Internet Society, chairman of the Federation of Korean Information Industries and chairman of the Asia Oceania Computer Industry Organization. He has been granted six honorary Ph.D. degrees, countless awards, and has several times served on the Presidential Advisory Committee. Moreover, he has published many books and reports.

For the past ten years since 2005, Dr. Lee has been voluntarily devoting his time and effort to promote nationwide ethics, moral and character education campaign using HPM.
